Warm Winter Sunset

Yesterday’s unseasonably warm sunrise was matched by the evening's delicious, colorful sunset. I’m not sure if it was the stormy weather, the eclipse, or my mood, but at yesterday's sunset the sky was positively glowing! My camera does not remotely do justice to the golden pink of the clouds and deep blue of the sky.

Sunset on Treetops

I actually snapped this one last night as the sun was setting, but went off to have fun and didn’t get around to posting. Last night brought one gorgeous sunset I tell ya, as evidenced by the golden treetops.

Sunset after the rain

This weekend, our Earth Day was appropriately celebrated with some of the best rain we’ve had to date since arriving in Pennsylvania. It lasted through Friday night, Saturday, and most of Saturday night. I am so incredibly thankful for that sweet, soothing, succulent rain! You know the trees are stoked. What’s that I hear them saying? “Encore! Encore!!”

Now, with the sun setting, the earth is warm, humid, and everything smells of flowers. If you walk out there and close your eyes, all you know of the world is dampness, cherry blossoms and bird songs.

Sunset in the forest

Maybe I can’t go wandering around in depths of the neighbor's forest again, but that doesn’t mean I can’t go up to the edge at the back corner of the springhouse, right?

Last night we had a wonderful five minute rain that started around 5 or 6 pm. It was given to us by a big, beautiful, purple-grey cloud that covered the farm, poured out its bounty, and floated happily on its way. PAL said that he saw rainbows in his part of town!

I made my way along the south side of the hedge towards the back of the springhouse. Now that I knew what I was looking for, it was relatively easy to navigate my way back to where I ended my journey last week.

The sunlight beamed between the wet trees, illuminating the small spring like a silver thread through the swamp plants. With everything freshly dampened, the forest smelled rich and full of life! While I never see them during the day, I know I can hear frogs down here at night (they appear to squeak more than they croak).

Trees in gold skirts

While I realize that I’ve shared a lot of forsythia with you lately, I simply must share more! After all, it is blooming all over the place, and with pictures like these two, how can I resist?

Gold sunset light on gold flowers equals arboreal bliss.

Moon rise, sun set

These rose hedges are going to look so incredibly righteous once they begin to bloom!

How's THAT for a five o'clock shadow?

Have a lovely evening, everyone... and a great Tuesday too.

Sunset under the trees

I’ve been waiting all week for this tiny patch of mystery to blossom! Does anyone know the name of this little plant? She grows quietly under the trees next to my cottage, and looks wonderful in the setting sunlight.
