Walking Stick in the Garden

Corylus avellana 'Contorta', also known as "Harry Lauder's walking stick" or Corkscrew Hazel, from my friend's garden here at the farm. Picture taken March 9th (before I got sick). I'll try and give you an update soon to see what happens when the buds open!

  3. Dave, this is new to me as well - I think it looks best in the winter!

Michelle, buds indeed, I'm sure they're open now, I just need to get out and take some pictures. We have flowers - it's definitely spring. Still, I wouldn't be surprised to see a late snow!

  4. I love this tree! I used to walk past one every day on my way home from work. Now I finally have one in my garden. It's such a beauty. Your pic of this tree is wonderful!

  5. I was at a nursery in Penna yesterday and they had one of these for sale. Loved it, very unique.
I would of bought it but it wouldn't fit in my van to bring 250 miles.
These pictures are great. Thanks for sharing them with us. I had never heard of the Walking STick tree before yesterday.
